Meet MARY AHLS...

Mary Whatley Ahls has 47 years of commercial and fine art experience.

She started her career as a screen print designer in high school in Georgia.   A wonderful friend of Mary’s father’s started selling her original printed fabric designs to clothing manufacturers in New York, and she was hired to design, color separate, and sometimes print fabric shirts for his business, GA Hand Prints.

She worked for him all through her high school years.   The money she made, paid for a commercial art and art history BFA and some graduate work at the University of Georgia.

After graduation she had many careers with art:   recreational art director for several cities, freelance artist, TV set designer, biomedical photographer, medical illustrator and educational artist, art teacher, commercial free lance advertising and designer, bead jewelry designer, book illustrator and gallery owner.   As a painter, here in Tucson, she has sold her work locally, internationally and through out the US.

She worked as independent and corporate national sales person for several fortune 500 hundred companies, selling to fortune 500 companies, but always maintained her art as a sideline.   She retired from the corporate world at 54 to pursue her art at a full time level.

She works in all painting media:   oil, acrylic, watercolor, color pencils, professional crayons, and mixed.   Her commercial art experience enables her to paint anything you desire, on a commissioned basis.

Currently, she teaches private and group art classes, and shows her latest works at Illusions Gallery at 150 S. Camino Seco Suite 119, Tucson, AZ 85710 and Incredible Journeys Gallery at the Foothills Mall, Ina at Oracle Rd.,Tucson AZ.
