an anti-war protest. This image and poem by the artist is derived from the Souls at Rest paiting,
and is available as a laminated poster.

Comments: A spur of the moment image, created while stumbling onto
an anti-war protest. This image was sold long before it was completed. A

Comments: A sketch emulating Master Vincent van Gogh's image. In
copying this as accurately as possible, it was very interesting to
realize where van Gogh changed reed pens and where, believe it or not,
he faltered, in this instance, badly. The errors lie in the outcrop of rock,
near the tree on the left hand side. And of course, for a Hollander, any hill
is a thing of amazement.

Comments: Walking past this old gate on the way to Campus, every
day, eventually the gate just got to me. I've created this in pastel and
it's sold, now the oil has sold. Collection: IANDS (Private.)

Comments: The beauty and the barrenness of this most arid
of deserts is apparent in this triptych. With the memory of
the Kalahari Gemsbok Park as model image, the harshness of
the entire scene is offset by the soft touch of a blade or two
of grass. That even a blade of grass could struggle to survive
in this terribly beautiful harshness is the overall appeal of
creating this image.

Comments: Many have commented on the spiritual aspects of this
image. The boat lies beached, but is almost transparent. Is this
symbolic of life at present? Beached to learn a lesson, then ready
to launch into the bay and experience Nature and other forces of
the Universe, only to beach again ...as all boats (and lives?)
must sooner or later?

Comments: Created while on solitary retreat near Cascabelle (The Place of the Rattlesnake) AZ. This saguaro was the only shade close by - the other patch of shade under the nearby mesquite tree was occupied by the resident rattlesnake. As important as shade was - this artist simply could not bring himself and therefore declined the invitation to discuss the merits of his art with a rattler!
